We’re kicking it off Season 2 of the 3D InCites Podcast with a conversation about CES 2022. As you probably know, the Consumer Electronics Showcase took place Live in Las Vegas earlier this month. The official attendee report is 45,000 in-person attendees and 2300 exhibitors, as well as 1800 global media representatives. 1/3 of the attendees were from outside the US. Sounds like big numbers – but that’s only about ¼ of the usual turnout, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The show closed a day early because of Omicron – and many tech publications didn’t send editorial teams and chose to cover it virtually instead.

Martijn Pierik, CEO at Kiterocket, did attend in person, and he’s here with me today to give us his perspective on the first Live CES experience since COVID began. From the process of getting through the COVID protocols to get into the show, to traveling in style between the halls, to the overall atmosphere, and of course some of the technology highlights, he shares it all.

We also talk about this year’s focus on the Metaverse, cryptocurrency, sustainability and repairability, automotive, wellness, and the home. We also talk about how CES 2022 reflects the changing behavior of people as they adjust to the new normal of events post-pandemic.
