Workforce development is a critical and ongoing challenge in the microelectronics industry. SEMI Foundation is working to build awareness about the opportunities that come with a career in microelectronics through its Industry Image and Awareness Campaign. Part of that initiative is a partnership with Roadtrip Nation to create a video and documentary series focused on the microelectronics industry.

In this episode, I talk with Shari Liss, Executive Director of SEMI Foundation. She explains how for young people interested in STEM, the semiconductor is still fairly invisible.  They know all about social media apps, but they don’t understand the microelectronics that underpin all these devices. The goal of the Image and Awareness Campaign is to bring the semiconductor out of obscurity, so they can understand what opportunities are available to them.

To this end, SEMI Foundation has partnered with the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL)  and Roadtrip Nation to provide opportunities to students who are interested in learning more about this exciting industry.  Listen in to learn all about these programs and how your company can participate and support these efforts.
